GENESEE CSO REDUCTION PROJECT
SEATTLE PUBLIC UTILITIES
The Genesee Basins projects provide additional storage and pipeline to control 600,000 gallons of runnoff, reducing overflows into Lake Washington. As part of the basin project, the Genesee combined sewer overflow (CSO) project involves two separate sites in the Genesee neighborhood of Seattle. HBB worked with design team members to actively preserve existing trees in the historic landscapes surrounding the projects and provide mitigation planting. HBB developed the landscape improvements sections of Engineering Reports with a focus on passive recreation and preserving the historic Olmsted character of the project sites along Lake Washington Boulevard. Our coordination with the design team and city led to the protection of several existing “city-wide exceptional” trees.
