Sea-Tac International Airport Rental Car Facility
Port of Seattle; Aviation Division
This five-story, 2.1 million-square foot concrete rental car garage is built on 23 acres at the intersection of International Boulevard and SR-518. With over 5,400 stalls, servicing 12 rental car brands, the lower four floors provide quick turnaround space; while the fifth floor provides visitors with a 50,000 square foot customer service building, a bus plaza, porte-cochere, and staff parking. The landscape of the Rental Car Facility (RCF) at Sea-Tac International Airport builds on the concepts presented in the airport’s Landscape Design Guidelines and on the Port’s sustainability goals. The landscape aesthetic complements the architecture and the region’s Puget Sound lowland forests, with plant materials that meet Federal Aviation Administration and airport requirements for reduced wildlife attractants and to create visual buffers around the site. The site was terraced with architectural walls to accentuate the sculpted land forms and integrate storm water treatment into the landscape.
