Central Link Sound Transit
HBB provided landscape enhancements for six miles of at-grade rail and street improvements in addition to landscape architecture for station designs. Enhancements include several “triangle” parks, and two stations along the rail line within Rainier Valley along Martin Luther King Jr. Way South. Design team collaboration included landscape architecture, urban design, and public art for two stations: Othello Station and Rainier Beach Station. Urban design recommendations included paving, lighting, and site furnishings as well as construction document preparation for paving between tracks. HBB developed comprehensive street tree selection matrix to support a “Legacy Street Tree” design concept and establish planting palettes along the transit corridor.
