Fire Station No 38

SEATTLE FIRE DISTRICT

SEATTLE, WA

Located in the Hawthorne Hills neighborhood of Seattle, the design for Fire Station No. 38 considers both the civic nature of the building and the site’s residential setting in creating a context-sensitive design. Coordination with the project design team allowed HBB to create a seamless transition between the different open space design components within narrow, restricted spaces. HBB worked with the project artist to enhance the sculptural art elements with the plant palette resulting in a combination of bold colors and textures in the vegetation. HBB assisted in design of the green stormwater infrastructure system t by integrating the rain garden configuration, functionality, and aesthetics with the architectural façade, and sculptures. The project achieved a LEED® Gold certification and meets 0.3 Seattle Green Factor.
