Located centrally on the Yakima Valley College (YVC) Campus in downtown Grandview, this library serves the faculty and students of Yakima Valley College and Grandview’s citizens. The library was developed as a joint use facility by the City of Grandview and Yakima Valley College. Landscape improvements include low maintenance plant materials selected for year-round interest, an efficient low water use irrigation system, an entry plaza with special paving, site furnishings, pedestrian lighting and a grape vine arbor to celebrate the Vineyard and Wine Technology Program. The project also includes swales, located between the library and the adjacent activity center, to provide low impact storm drainage by natural infiltration. The design process included several eco charrette meetings to coordinate LEED® documentation for the project’s LEED Gold certification.
