Jack Block Park
Port of Seattle; Seaport Division
The project included the development of approximately 160 acres of land adjacent to Elliott Bay. Approximately 16 acres of new landscape buffer/habitat areas and 6 acres of new public access to the Elliot Bay shoreline were integrated into development. A portion of this site was included on the National Super Fund List which required special mitigation. HBB provided public access improvements, streetscape enhancements, buffer plantings and shoreline habitat design. The park’s barrier-free trail connects to the Alki Beach Trail and Duwamish/Green River Trail. The design integrates upland beach play area, pier plaza for community gatherings, accessible circulation system, and passive open spaces with multiple viewpoints. The viewing tower, custom designed by the project architect, provides views of Elliot Bay, the skyline of the city, and Terminal 5 shipping activities.
