Big Gulch Trail
Mukilteo, Washington
Big Gulch Trail is located in the Big Gulch Ravine that bisects the city of Mukilteo. The trail connects to residential neighborhoods, the Mukilteo Fire Station, City Library, Columbia Elementary School, 92nd Street Park, and nearby hotels. The City of Mukilteo retained HBB to provide site planning and construction document services for the two segments of Big Gulch Trail, missing links in a multi-phased, two mile recreational trail system. HBB and our design team assisted the City and Design Team in addressing the ecosystem elements, determining trail alignments, developed, gateway, wayfinding and interpretive signs, and facilitating design solutions to address the steep slopes and critical areas in the ravine which includes a Category 3 fish bearing stream.
