Cushman Trail – Phase 5

City of Gig Harbor

Gig Harbor, WA

Phase 5 of the Cushman Trail will add an additional 4 miles to the existing 6.2-mile trail system, connecting at an existing trailhead in central Gig Harbor and extending north to the city limit and its urban growth boundary. The project scope included an alternative alignment analysis and preliminary engineering to validate the proposed alignment. HBB supported the alignment study with recommendations to improve the overall user experience and identify locations for pedestrian amenities throughout the corridor. HBB also supported the public involvement process. The trail route passes through a variety of environments including forested areas, power line access routes, commercial centers, and residential neighborhoods. Connections are provided to nearby bus stops, schools and a regional hospital. HBB provided graphic support, an executive summary, sections of the proposed design, and conceptual plans for rest areas to be sited along the trail.
