Lynnwood Interurban Trail Master Plan & 40th Avenue Trailhead
City of Lynnwood
Lynnwood, WA
HBB worked with Lynnwood in a pro bono capacity to develop a master plan to turn the existing Interurban Trail into a new linear recreation facility with a distinct character and both passive and active uses that would reflect the unique context of the trail through the city. HBB facilitated a large workshop with city staff and key stakeholders to identify recreation opportunities along the corridor and help define the community character of each segment of the trail. Opportunities included fitness stations, community gardens, passive open space, and public art installations. HBB also developed final design and construction documents for the development of the 40th Avenue Trailhead. The trailhead incorporates Lynwood’s streetscape standards and the City Center’s urban feel within the “Fitness Section” of the trail master plan. Fitness stations, picnic area, and low seat walls add recreation opportunities to the trailhead. A monument kiosk and shade structure in the new plaza space formalizes the entrance supports wayfinding signage along the trail.
