Northup Way Multipurpose Trail
City of Bellevue
Bellevue, WA
This project provides new bike lanes and sidewalk on both sides of Northup Way between 108th Avenue NE and NE 24th Street. It includes a multi-use path along Northeast 24th Street that connects SR-520 trail to Northup Way and includes a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railway. Additional design elements include planting strips, street lighting, driveway access improvements and pedestrian crossings. Urban design options for the pedestrian bridge design were developed which included custom handrails, special paving, pedestrian lighting, enhanced retaining wall finishes and gateway portal treatments. The project also provided an evaluation of a variety of street cross-sections for multi-modal transportation and landscape requirements which included a study of low-impact development opportunities to support a separated trail facility.
