Bothell SR-527 Multi-way Boulevard

HBB provided landscape architectural design services for the realignment of SR-522 Crossroad through the heart of downtown and the expansion of a five-block stretch of SR-527 into a new Multi-way Boulevard project between the new SR-522 Crossroads and NE 188th Street. The multi-way boulevard separates parking drives and bike lanes from the main travel way, and provides wider sidewalks, permeable paving, and raingarden medians. The urban design portion of the boulevard features large street trees, architecturally unique seat walls, custom tree grates and tree well railings. The Crossroads includes median planting, new sidewalks and gateway treatment. Wayfinding elements, pedestrian lighting and informal seating are also incorporated to match the downtown pedestrian experience. Large existing trees were protected during construction and incorporated into the final design. HBB’s services included planting design, construction documents for urban design features, irrigation design and raingarden detailing.
