East Link SE Bellevue to Overlake Final Design
HBB provided landscape architecture services for the seven-mile East Link light rail corridor between Bellevue and Redmond, including the Bellevue Downtown and Wilburton Stations. The design of the corridor responds to a variety of adjacent environments while highlighting significant view points for light rail patrons, preserving existing trees, and reducing impacts to sensitive areas. The Bellevue Downtown station is located at the entry to the downtown tunnel, adjacent to an existing underground parking garage and Bellevue City Hall. Improvements to the Station and City Hall Plaza include cascading water features, reflecting pond, public art, large trees, and custom paving patterns. The Wilburton Station provides multi-modal trail connections to the Eastside Rail Corridor trail and regional medical centers while preserving sensitive creek environments. A new open plaza includes bioretention planters, patron drop-off, and public art. Design services include planting, tree protection, irrigation and urban design features. HBB also supported Sound Transit with graphic support for public outreach programs.
